Wir sind in Gibraltar / We are in Gibraltar

So, wir sind in Gibraltar, wie die Griechen sagen dem "Tor zum Hades"  Um 06:00 haben wir den Anker im Nordosten der Bucht von Gibraltar geworfen. Meine Anfrage nach einem Hafenplatz bei der Marina in Gibraltar ist bis jetzt nicht beantwortet worden, auch die Anfrage per Funk wurde nicht beantwortet. Wir liegen auf 5 Meter mit gutem Sandgrund für den Anker. Jetzt schauen wir mal was wir machen werden.

Wir hatten den sichern Ankerplatz vor dem Cabo de Gata um 21:00 am 28.08.verlassen mit der Hoffnung auf Wind aus Osten, der uns nach Gibraltar blasen würde. Was dann an Wind eintrat, habe ich schon geschrieben. Jetzt segelten wir die Costa del Sol runter mit allen seinen touristischen Einrichtungen am Strand. Gleich dahinter oder sogar daneben stehen in großer Anzahl Treibhäuser für die Gemüsemärkte Europas. Hier werden die geschmacklosen Tomaten, Gurken etc. nach EU-Norm gezüchtet. Auch illegal gebaute Hotelruinen gibt es an der Küste.

Finally we reached this morning at 06:00 the bay of Gibraltar. We dropt anchor way in the sheltered corner on the spanish site. My request for a marina berth at the marina in Gibraltar has not been answered up to now. The ground is sand and has good holding capacity. 

We have left the sheltered anchor place at Cabo de Gata after 21:00 on 30.08.2012 with the hope of farorable wind from the east to sail to Gibraltar, the gate to the "Hades" as the greec saying. The situation of the wind on the road I have discribed before. Now we are on the way south to the "Costa del Sol" with all the touristic installations on the beach. Also this is the area where all the greenhouse are located even up to the hills. In this greenhouse the farmers producing all the tomatoes, cucumbers etc. for the europian markets. this realy is looking uggly is you see it from the sea side. 

We had to use the motor to make good south way towards Gibraltar. Just 20 SM before we reach Gibraltar the strong easterly wind picked up and we could sail the last part of the journey. The wind became stronger with every hour and we just make it to the anchor place before it was getting difficult. Now we are safe and waiting for next to come.
