Takatsch on Tour: Auf SAL im Hafen Palmeira angekommen / arrived on the island of SAL in the port Palmeira

Am Donnerstag den 25.12.2012 um ca. 17:00 sind wir planmäßig in Palmeira auf SAL eingelaufen. Viele Schiffe lagen hier schon vor Anker. Wir fanden einen guten Ankerplatz auf ca. 4 Meter Wasser und Sandgrund. Der Anker hat sich tief in den Sand gegraben. Erst einmal klar Schiff machen, dann Essen kochen und danach den Abend ausklingen lassen. Wir hatten einiges an Schlaf nachzuholen. Die Nacht war ruhig und der Passat Wind aus dem Nordosten hat sich etwas gelegt. Die Nacht war sehr ruhig. Der nächste Morgen begann mit einem ausgiebigen Frühstück. Danach war dann Landgang angesagt, wir mußten uns ja einklarieren. Also Beiboot runter und an Land. Unterwegs gabelten wir einen Skipper vom Nachbarboot auf, dieser zeigte und wo wir hin mussten um unsere Dokumente zu präsentieren. Das lief ganz ohne Stress ab. Nach dem Ausfüllen einer Form ging es ab zum Flughafen um ein Einreisevisum zu bekommen. Mit dem Sammelbus und 3 Euro legten wir die kurze Strecke zurück. Dort ein bisschen rumgefragt und schwups hatten wir das Einreisevisum im Pass. Am Flughafen gleich Geld aus dem Automaten gezogen und im Telefonshop eine GSM-Internetkarte erstanden. Alles klappte reibungslos. Das war uns ein erstes Bier wert. Mit dem Taxi zurück in den Hafen zur Polizei. Pässe präsentieren und der Polizist sagt "willkommen auf SAL und im Hafen Palmeira. Jetzt waren die Behördengänge abgeschlossen. Wieder an Bord noch ein paar kleinen Arbeiten erledigt und den Rest des Tages faul in der Sonne gelegen. Der Passat ist schon ganz schön stark hier in den Böen. Die Ankerkette knarrt immer wieder wenn sich der Anker streckt. Am späten Nachmittag ist Ferdinand dann noch einmal an Land gefahren um den hier ansässigen Trans Ocean Carlos Repräsentanten zu treffen. Das wurde eine interessante Unterhaltung, hatte er doch viel zu erzählen. Den Abend haben wir dann mit unserem improvisierten Weihnachtsgesteck und Kerzenlicht im Cockpit verbracht.

Thurday the 25.12.2012 at around 17:00 hour we arrived as planned in the port Palmeira on the island SAL of the Cap Verde archipelago. Lots of boats are moored here in this port. We found a good anchorage at 4 meter depth on sand. The anchor was holding good in the sand. We cleared the ship, after that dinner and we enjoyed the evening. We had to get some good sleep after 5 days on the sea. In the night the wind eased a bit and we slept stone death. Next morning a good breakfast in the cockpit. After that we have go go on land to see the authorities for clearing in. Dinghy down and off we are to the police office. On the way we collected another skipper and he explained the way to the police station. This was no problem, all are friendly and after filling in a form we had to go to the airport to get the entry visa for the Cap Verde. We took a small bus to the airport, cost 3 Euro und there we ask the emigration to clear our passports. No problem after a few minutes the passports where stamped, we pay 5 Euro and all was fine. No stress at all. In the airport we could draw local cash CPE-Escudo at the machine. An GSM-Internet card could be also collected in the shop. With a taxi for 5 Euro we get back to the port. we presented the passports to the police, all was well: "Welcome in the Cap Verde". No more authorities to please. Return on board we finalized some small jobs on the boat and the rest of the day enjoying the sun. The wind was very strong in the peak and the anchor chain was always stretched out. Shortly before sunset Ferdinand paid a visit to the local rep of the Trans Ocean society Carlos. An interesting person with lots of experience. The evening we sat quietly in the cockpit and a candle was lit on our improvised x-mass decoration.
