Unser zweiter Tag der Inselrundfahrt / the second day of the tour on the island

Today we explored the northern part of the island La Palma. we took the road on the west coast north. The road is bending up the hill and down the steep flanks of the valleys. One Baranco ( Valley on Spanish) follows the next. Large forest of Kanarenkiefern with good hight. In the valleys Banana plantations all over. We drove the 100 bends up to the highest mountain of the island the "Roque de los Muchachos" at a hight of 2426 meters over the sea. On top of the hill there are Europe biggest telescopes to observe the universe. The temperature here was zero degree C or even below. The tip of the mountain was again in the clouds, but for some moments the clouds brake and we could see the head of the volcano. Again down hill through the dense forest to the east coast. Back to our port we drove the north east coast to some old carvings from the ancient population of the island. We pay a visit to our friend Frederico and his wife to his house in Tazacorte. Only after 19:00 hour we reach the port.
